How online PDF editing works
PDF pages are fixed layouts, not Word documents. This visual editor creates movable text, images, signatures and annotations over a page preview. Edit Text selects detected words for visual replacement using a sampled background mask and a standard font; it does not alter the original text stream. Complex backgrounds may need manual adjustment.
How to edit a PDF
- Open a PDF and select a page.
- Choose Edit Text to replace individual detected words, or Edit, Annotate, Sign, Pages or Document for other changes.
- Select added objects to adjust text, position, size and color. Undo and redo are available.
- Preview and verify the export, then download the edited PDF.
Signatures, annotations and page organization
Type or draw a visual signature, or upload an image. Add shapes, highlights and notes. Reorder, rotate, duplicate, remove and insert pages. Extract a selected page list when exporting.
Redaction and export limitations
The export reconstructs original pages as images. This removes original text extraction, links, active content, interactive forms and digital signatures. Added text is written with a standard PDF font and may look different. Whiteout is a visual cover; marked redactions are flattened into the page image during confirmed export.
Keep your original PDF. Complex embedded fonts, encrypted files, interactive form export and password encryption are not supported. Run English OCR to select and replace detected words on scanned pages. Word placement is approximate, longer replacements may overlap, and surrounding text does not reflow.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit every PDF exactly like Word?
No. Added text is editable in the session. Existing content uses a visible replacement overlay, and export flattens original pages.
Are signatures saved?
No. Signature images and drawing data stay in memory for the current session.
Is a black rectangle permanent redaction?
A normal shape is not redaction. Use Mark redaction and confirm export; the original page is rasterized and covered before the new PDF is generated.
Can the output remain searchable?
Added text is extractable. Original page text becomes an image in this export mode.
Privacy
Processing takes place in your browser. Inputs are not sent to an API or saved in browser storage. Closing or refreshing the page clears the editing session.
